Liu Yuan is an interdisciplinary artist who works in a variety of media from drawing to sculpture to interactive installation. She was born in Xi’an, China and moved to Auckland, New Zealand with her family in 2008. After earning her Bachelors of Fine Arts with honors from Elam School of Fine Arts under The University of Auckland in New Zealand. She completed her MFA in Sculpture at Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2019. 

Yuan got selected in the exhibitions including ASYAAF & Hidden Artist Festival, Seoul, South Korea (2018), Experiencing Perspectives, by Mercedes-Benz Financial Services, Farmington Hills, MI (2018). Other group exhibitions include Appendix, Forum Gallery, Bloomfield Hills, MI (2018), 3:15, North Art Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand (2016), Every day, George Fraser Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand (2016) and Eden Arts Art School Award, Gus Fisher Gallery, Auckland, New Zealand (2015).

She is currently a recipient of the Sculpture Space Residency Program in Utica, NY.
