Paper mache, ink on paper and ceramic vessel with animation
, 120’’ x 99’’ x 125’’

I am the bell, the resonant bell; I am the rock, the gentle rock;

I am the mountains, the boundless mountains; I am the ink, the flowing ink;

I am landscape, the familiar landscape; I am memory, the redolent memory.

Page by page, frame by frame, step by step, I offered three manners to approach experiences by exploring the space between the real and imaginary.

A surprise waiting to be discovered. Gazing through the ceramic vessel, the Sumi ink drawing of landscapes and bells alternate back and forth in the blink of an eye. The low hanging booklet is installed in front of nature. Overlays, blocks of color, stamp by stamp. This pocket sized booklet recalls your childhood reading through a picture book. I titled the paper mache sculpture ‘Drawing’; it helps open up the conversations to both the work and audiences. The definition of ‘what it is’ is vague, it could be a rock, a table, an animal, a thing, it all depends on you. A journey that travels from space to book to screen.

This liminal stage of the two and the moment in between brings you back to a place, a place of somewhere and nowhere. The different media together focus on the dialogues that happened between each work. One is informed by another, one feeds back to another. It's almost become an open-ended narrative, which people understand in various ways.
